Surgery for Breast Cancer of Lobular-in-situ Type?
Majid Ali, M.D.
My Short Answer: Think Twice Before Surgery, No Thrice
Basis of My Statement
I my advice is based on a simple fact: the so-called lobular carcinoma-in-situ of breast is not a real cancer. It does not spread with metastasis.
In the early 1970s, my mentor Professor Raphael Lattes, at Columbia University in New York taught me to diagnose lobular neoplasm what other pathologists were then calling lobular carcinoma -in-situ. The terms cancer and carcinoma are synonymous.
